Making an application manageable involves allowing systems administrators to monitor and troubleshoot the application. NET Framework provides the namespace to allow you to write events to the event log, create debug and trace information, and provide performance counters.IT departments also regularly need internal tools that analyze computer status or respond to changes in the operating system. You can check and reset them manually, or you can run a Powershell script. If you make any changes, be sure to reboot the server. Thanks, James "Steven Cheng[MSFT]" Hi James, Welcome to ASP. From your description, you found the performance counters for ASP. Invalid Operation Exception: The requested Performance Counter is not a custom counter, it has to be initialized as Read Only. The error returned is: The specified counter could not be found.
Any other suggestions you might have would be be appreciated.I have performance counters group and some performance counters.Group is created during service install phase (with administrator privileges), and counters are initialized when service starts (as Local System user). I add them in service code, rebuild and deploy to server by uninstalling previous service instance (performance counters group is deleted by uninstall code), and installing service again (performance counters group is created during install phase with all new counters). That's the end of common, uninteresting part of the story. I go to Per Mon, add all counters to System monitor view. But new counters doesn't work, they don't collect any data. Security rights should not be a problem as I have tested in the administrator role and get the same result. From your description, you found the performance counters for ASP.
